I am deeply saddened by the passing of Yayoi Kusama, one of the greatest artists of contemporary art.

A true living legend, she shaped her life and work with extraordinary freedom, imagination, and vision, leaving an indelible mark on the art world over the past decades.

It has been a great honor for everyone at Louis Vuitton to have collaborated with her on two occasions in 2012 and 2023. Her boundless creativity and singular vision have always been an immense source of inspiration.

On behalf of Louis Vuitton, I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family, her loved ones, and all those who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her extraordinary legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

On August 26th (Wed), please be aware that the exhibition environment will be different from usual due to a "Junior Art Guide" workshop for elementary school students being held during opening hours. From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, please feel free to engage with the “Junior Art Guides” (Japanese only) and enjoy the exhibition with their guidance.
No reservation required; however please note that we may ask you to wait if there are many participants.

Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo will host special viewing events in the gallery after 5:00 pm on June 18 and 19. Visitors are welcome to view the exhibition as usual during these hours.

In light of its great success, the exhibition Paintings and Banality by Jeff Koons has been extended until 18 October 2026.

Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo and Arts Initiative Tokyo (AIT) are pleased to present an artist talk with Rina Banerjee, held to mark the opening of the exhibition “You made me leave home…” at Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo (Omotesando) and the artist’s visit to Japan. The talk will take place on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Hillside Plaza (Daikanyama Hillside Terrace), and will feature Rina Banerjee in conversation with Yasufumi Nakamori, independent curator and curatorial adviser to the exhibition.

Banerjee has, since the late 1990s, consistently explored themes of bodies and narratives that traverse boundaries. Her work has been presented in numerous major international exhibitions, including the Busan Biennale and the Venice Biennale. Her works are also held in the collections of leading institutions such as the Centre Pompidou and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

In 2025, Nakamori curated “(Re)Generations” at the Asia Society in New York, in which Banerjee participated. In this talk, Banerjee’s ideas behind the exhibition, the background of her artistic practice, and her recent activities will be explored in depth through a dialogue with Nakamori, who has previously organized exhibitions featuring her work. It will be a rare opportunity to hear directly from the artist about her creative process.
